
Getting Your Sidel Matrix Heating Just Right
When you’re swapping out lamps in a Sidel Matrix blower, “close enough” doesn’t cut it. You can’t just find something with similar specs and hope for the best. If the wattage, voltage, or light spectrum is off, your PET preforms won’t hit that sweet spot—the glass transition temperature—and you’ll end up with burnt plastic. That’s why we build our replacement lamps to be a mirror image of the originals. Exactly.
Why the Tiny Details Matter
Here is the thing: if a lamp is off by even 5% in wattage, you’re going to see it in your wall thickness. It’s that simple. We make sure our tubes match the original power density so the infrared heat sinks into the PET wall at the exact same speed as the factory lamp. We’re obsessive about the short-wave emission spectrum because that’s how you avoid “hot spots.” Nobody wants to deal with pearlescence or bottles bursting on the line. It’s a headache you just don’t need.
Quartz and Connections
We use heavy-wall quartz glass. Why? Because these things go through a lot of thermal shock with rapid cycling, and they need to be tough enough to handle it. Then there are the connectors. We keep the tolerances tight. If a connector is loose in the socket, you get arcing, which leads to carbon buildup and a lamp that burns out way too early. Our interfaces are standard industrial gear, so they just slide right into your current wiring. You won’t have to touch your oven chassis or modify a single thing.
Swapping Them Out
These are true drop-in replacements. You pull the old ones out, wire the new ones up, and keep your usual heating profile. If you’re running high-speed production, you’ll need those high-wattage tubes to get the heat density you need. But a quick heads-up: running these at full tilt puts a lot of pressure on your oven’s ventilation. If your cooling blowers are clogged with dust, the ambient temperature will creep up. Even with a perfect lamp, that extra heat can shift your curve. Do yourself a favor—check your airflow before you ramp up to full speed.
